Wrexham's League Two promotion rivals have suffered a major setback as their manager has left the club for Championship side Swansea City.

  WHAT HAPPENED?

  According to the , Williams has signed a three-and-a-half-year-long contract with the Championship club. He will replace Michael Duff on the touchline after the club sacked him at the start of last month. Ryan Harley, Williams' assistant, also makes the trip from Meadow Lane to South Wales after a brief stint at Swansea during his playing career. Notts County's first-team coach analyst George Lawtey is also moving to Swansea in the same capacity.

  In his first full season in command, Williams guided Notts County to promotion from the National League; the Magpies emerged victorious in the play-offs following a thrilling title struggle against Wrexham. Swansea, who defeated West Bromwich Albion 1-0 on New Year's Day, are currently eight points outside of the top six in the Championship, sitting in 16th place.
